Join us for an engaging two-day professional learning experience designed to help educators create meaningful, student-centered learning opportunities through Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Service-Learning.
Participants will explore the essential role SEL plays in helping students develop the collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills needed for successful project-based learning. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, educators will learn how to intentionally connect SEL outcomes to academic instruction and design learning experiences that foster both personal growth and academic achievement.
Using interactive games, visual learning tools, and real-world examples, participants will discover the differences between community-based learning, community service, and service-learning—and why service-learning is a powerful strategy for increasing student engagement and impact. Educators will leave inspired and equipped to launch meaningful service-learning projects that strengthen connections between students, schools, and communities.
This workshop prepares educators to design and implement high-quality service-learning experiences using tools and strategies from The KIDS As Planners Guidebook. Throughout the two days, participants will have dedicated planning time to develop projects tailored to their own teaching environments and receive feedback and support from peers and facilitators.
